Go on a 9×9 board, sized for travel and shorter games.
The 9×9 board makes it quick to learn, but holding real Go stones and placing them by hand creates an experience digital versions can't match.
Go has been played for more than 2,500 years. Two players take turns placing Black and White stones on the board's intersections, competing to control territory.
Simple rules
Players place one stone per turn and capture stones that have no empty adjacent intersections.
Fast, focused games
Traditional Go is played on a 19×19 board. This set uses a 9×9 board, so games are shorter.
Real strategy, portable format
Creating groups and capturing stones are part of Go, on a board you can take with you.
Easy to return to
Step away when life interrupts, then come back without resetting the board or breaking the flow of play.
Go Without the Intimidation
The 9×9 board is smaller than the 19×19 board and is used for shorter games.
Roll to Pause. Resume When You're Ready.
This is the feature that changes how people think about travel Go.
When you need to stop (for a flight, a meal, or because the afternoon ran out), you roll the board closed. The stones stay where they are. The magnetic bond between each piece and the board holds position through rolling, carrying, and packing.
Why Roll-Up Outperforms Rigid Cases
Most portable Go sets use rigid wooden or plastic cases: two panels that fold open, stones stored in separate containers. The board folds flat for transport but requires full teardown before you can pack up.
The rigid format has real limitations. Setup and teardown between sessions adds friction. Stones must be removed and stored before every move. A position mid-game cannot be preserved.
A Game Worth Returning To
This 9×9 set is a magnetic roll-up Go board for learning the game and for shorter games.
Simple to learn and portable.
Magnetic Stability for Active Environments
The neodymium magnets embedded in each stone create a direct bond with the metal-embedded board surface. This holds pieces in place through normal transport conditions: in a backpack, carry-on bag, or rolled under an arm.
Screen-Free Strategy
In a landscape of Go apps, AI engines, and online platforms, there is still value in sitting across from another person with nothing between you but a board and a set of stones.
No battery. No notifications pulling focus. No algorithm adjusting difficulty.
Built for Repeated Use
This is not a board you play once and shelve. The durable construction is designed for ongoing, regular play across a wide range of environments.
The interlocking rib structure along both edges protects the board when rolled and provides a secure closure. The board surface resists wear from repeated rolling and unrolling. The magnetic stones maintain their hold strength over time.
Every VentureBoard Mini Go ships with a lifetime warranty, because equipment built for serious use should be backed accordingly.
More Opportunities to Play the Game You Already Love
You know why Go matters. You don't need convincing.
What you need is a set that actually gets used: one that fits in your bag, travels without hassle, and lets you pick up a game right where you left off. VentureBoard Mini Go doesn't change the game. It removes the reasons you're not playing it.
More games. More places. More moments across the board from someone worth playing.
